Inaugural Ceremony of BAST Party School & First Symposium held successfully

On the eve of the 100th anniversary of the founding of CPC, in order to advance the Party construction throughout CAST organization, better leverage the role of BAST in political mobilization, guidance and education of science and technology community in the capital city, and unite and guide sci-tech workers in Beijing to listen to the calling of the Party and follow the Party, the Party School of Beijing Association for Science and Technology was established with the approval of the Municipal Party Committee. 

On June 21, 2021, BAST held the inaugural ceremony of BAST Party School & first symposium grandly. Head of the Department for Organization and Personnel of CAST Li Kunping, President of National Academy of Innovation Strategy Ren Fujun, Secretary of Leading Party Members’ Group of BAST Ma Lin, Executive Vice President of BAST SIMA Hong, Deputy Director of Training and Talent Service Center of CAST He Wei, Vice President of Party School of Beijing Municipal Party Committee Yuan Jifu, leaders of sister Party schools in Beijing, veteran Party member representatives of BAST with more than 50 years of Party standing, all officers of organs and public institutions of BAST, presidents and secretaries general of societies (associations) affiliated to BAST, and leaders of district branches and grass-root organizations of BAST participated in the event, totaling 300 individuals. The event was hosted by Tian Wen, member of Leading Party Members’ Group, Vice President and class-1 inspector of BAST. 

Liu Xiaokan, member of Leading Party Members’ Group and Vice President of BAST, read out the written approval from the Office of Organizational Setup Committee of Beijing Committee of CPC regarding establishment of BAST Party School. Li Kunping, Ren Fujun, Yuan Jifu and Ma Lin jointly unveiled the plaque of BAST Party School. Next, a ceremony was held to present commemorative medals “50 years as CPC members”, where Ma Lin presented commemorative members and flowers to veteran Party members of BAST with more than 50 years of Party standing. Executive Vice President of Party School of Beijing Association for Science and Technology Wang Lixin introduced the preparations for and construction of the Party school. 

Head of the Department for Organization and Personnel of CAST Li Kunping introduced in his speech the practical experience of CAST Party School, stressing that Party schools of association for science and technology need to raise their political stance, align with the role of Party schools of association for science and technology, focus on building three teams, strengthen iterative innovation, intensify top-level design and highlight features of science and technology societies. He hopes that BAST Party School will fully motivate all parties concerned on a new starting point to reflect the solution and model of Beijing, work together to make Party school a name brand with its own characteristics and practical results. 

Vice President of Party School of Beijing Municipal Party Committee Yuan Jifu said in his speech that Party schools are an important part of the cause of the Party. The establishment of BAST Party School not only added an important member to the group of Party schools across the city and reflects how BAST leads sci-tech workers strengthen scientific and technological innovation to realize the dreams of powerful nation of science and technology, but more importantly signifies that the Party construction efforts of BAST have stepped up. BAST Party School will leverage its role of operational guidance and assistance, conduct multidimensional cooperation and achieve resource sharing and collaborative development. 

Ma Lin, Secretary of Leading Party Members’ Group of BAST, pointed out that establishment of BAST Party School is an important measure to implement the spirit of the central work conference on mass organizations, strengthen the political guidance for sci-tech workers in Beijing and beef up the Party construction efforts of BAST organization. This means the Party construction efforts of BAST organization have reached a new stage, where Party members and cadres of BAST organization will have a more solid stronghold for receiving education and training and there will be a more solid platform for strengthening organizational building of BAST. Establishment of BAST Party School is a big event in the political life of Party members and officers of BAST organization and sci-tech workers in the capital city, as well as a great and joyful event of milestone significance for the Party construction efforts of BAST organization. On today’s extraordinarily grand occasion, we presented commemorative models to veteran Party members of BAST with more than 50 years of Party standing, asking them to witness the establishment of the Party school together, which is particularly significant. 

Ma Lin stressed in his speech that everyone needs to deeply understand the significance of building up the Party schools of association for science and technology, increase the sensed of purpose and responsibility and endeavor to build the Party school into a main channel of Party theoretical education, a melting pot of Party character education and a fuel station for personal and professional growth of all Party members of BAST organization and sci-tech workers in Beijing. Firstly, unify the thoughts, build consensus and strengthen political guidance and assimilation to sci-tech workers. Secondly, teach accurately, foster virtue through education and cultivate highly-qualified and professional officers for BAST. Thirdly, dare to explore, actively study and advance specialized think tanks in Beijing to serve scientific decision making. 

Ma Lin stressed the need to deeply implement the spirit of important speeches by General Secretary Xi Jinping at the national Party school work conference and the “10th national congress” of CAST, carry out the “Opinions on Strengthening and Improving Party School Work under New Situation” and requirements of CAST regarding proper construction of Party schools (colleges for scientists and technologists) of CAST organization, stick to the Beijing standards, highlight the features of the capital city, of association for science and technology and of science and technology, scientifically plan for the future development of BAST Party School, persist in building up the Party school with high quality and distinctive characteristics, make due contributions to cultivating and fostering a high-qualified, specialized team of officers for BAST, uniting and guiding sci-tech workers to devote themselves to constructing Beijing as an international sci-tech innovation center and helping realize high-level technological self-reliance, so as to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of CPC with outstanding achievements. 

President of National Academy of Innovation Strategy Ren Fujun delivered the first lecture at BAST Party School under the theme “celebrating the scientist spirit and the 100th anniversary of founding of CPC”.
