Theoretical Study Center Group of BAST Leading Party Members’ Group studies speeches of Xi Jinping at CAS &CAE academicians conference and 10th CAST National Congress

June 1, BAST held an enlarged meeting of its theoretical study center group of the leading Party members’ group to deeply study the spirit of important speeches by General Secretary Xi Jinping at the CAS &CAE academicians’ conference and 10th National Congress of CAST, accurately grasp job duties of CAST in the new era in conjunction of study of the spirit of CAST’s 10th national congress, and effectively align thoughts and actions to the spirit of important speeches of General Secretary Xi Jinping. Secretary of Leading Party Members’ Group of BAST Ma Lin hosted the meeting and made speeches, Executive Vice President SIMA Hong, members of Leading Party Members’ Group and vice presidents Tian Wen, Liu Xiaokan, Meng Fanxing and Chen Weichegn, class-1 inspector Yue Hongzhi, class-2 inspector and secretary general Zhang Yushan made important speeches in light of respective operational realities on the basis of deep study, and representatives of BAST’s organs and public institutions who participated in CAST’s 10th national congress shared respective thoughts and takeaways from the congress. 

Ma Lin pointed out in his wrap-up speech that the CAS &CAE academicians’ conference and 10th National Congress of CAST are a grand gathering to brainstorm the ways to promote innovative development of science and technology in the country at the historic junction of the “two centennial” objectives of struggle and the important starting point of a new journey of full-scale construction of a socialist modern country. General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speeches at the conference summarized how CPC valued science and technology in the past 100 years, since the reform and opening-up and since the 19th national congress of CPC, while constituting the latest understanding, refinement, summary and requirements for science and technology innovation efforts.  

Ma Lin emphasized that the important speeches of General Secretary Xi Jinping further defined the direction of reforms and development objectives of CAST organization, enriched and expanded the role of CAST organization in the modernization drive and provide the fundamental adherence and action guidelines for innovation-drive advancement of CAST’s cause at the new development stage. General Secretary Xi Jinping raised ardent expectations for better leveraging the roles of CAS & CAE academicians and CAST organization in his speeches, fully reflecting the concern and great attention of General Secretary Xi Jinping to science and technology innovation and CAST’s work. CAST organization is required to raise its political stance, deeply study and understand and fully implement the spirit of important speeches of General Secretary Xi Jinping at the conference, study and implement the speeches and requirements of Premier Li Keqiang and Wang Huning at CAST’s 10th national congress, further align thoughts, raise political stance, accurately grasp the new development stage, deeply implement new development ideas, accelerate the construction of new development pattern and solidly advance the high-quality development of CAST’s cause in the “14th five-year” plan period, all in light of the spirit of speeches made by Secretary of Beijing Municipal Party Committee Cai Qi at the discussion meeting with Beijing delegation to CAST’s 10th national congress. 

Ma Lin required BAST organization to take actions now to set off a craze to study important speeches of General Secretary Xi Jinping, benchmark themselves against the objectives and indicators on the basis of study, prepare BAST’s “14th five-year” plan better as practical requirements and earnestly carry out the spirit of speeches. Each department and each entity is required to make every effort to play their role in critical positions closely surrounding the decisions and arrangements made by the central government and overall work of the municipal Party committee. It is required to further advance the deep reforms of CAST organization steadfastly according to the “political, advanced and mass character” requirements of the central government for mass organizations, further enhance the “four-pronged service” capabilities and move forward along the successful road paved in the past years, and endeavor to unite sci-tech workers around the Party, actively guide sci-tech workers to follow the Party and make renewed, greater contributions to constructing a human community with a shared future.    

Cadres of BAST organs and departments and major officers of BAST’s public institutions attended the meeting as nonvoting attendees.
