BAST holds “Beijing’s sci-tech workers wholeheartedly devoted to the Party” Party history presentation

On April 7, “Beijing’s sci-tech workers wholeheartedly devoted to the Party” Party history presentation was held at Beijing Science Center. Secretary of Leading Party Members’ Group of BAST Ma Lin attended the event and delivered a speech. The presentation was hosted by Tian Wen, member of Leading Party Members’ Group, Vice President and class-1 of BAST. 

Zhang Dali, former member of Leading Party Members’ Group of BAST and former Vice President of the 3rd and 4th Committee, reviewed his life experience of always answering the call of the Party and working hard unremittingly on the frontline of scientific research management in the past 65 years since his joining the Party, under the title of “staying true to original inspirations and always remembering myself as a CPC member”. 

Ren Fan, daughter of former member of Leading Party Members’ Group of BAST and former Vice President of the 3rd and 4th Committee Ren Xiang, narrated moving deeds of his father growing up under the care of the Party, studying geology in the former Soviet Union, working hard in Bayan Obo in spite of illness, prospecting geothermal resources in Tibet and making outstanding contributions to the geological cause of the new China, under the title of “always following the Party——“Father of Geothermal Energy in China” Ren Xiang”. Deputy Director of Beijing Development Center of Popular Science Fu Mengmeng affectionately narrated moving stories about the people’s scientist and Chairman of the 4th Committee of BAST Gu Fangzhou testing drugs on himself for prevention of polio and devoting his entire life, under the title of “mission and devotion—people’s scientist Gu Fangzhou”, in combination with the capital sci-tech innovations show “game between mankind and infectious diseases”. The moving deeds of past generations of BAST people devoted wholeheartedly to the motherland for lifetime aroused intense resonances among present Party members and cadres, who gave warm and lasting applauses several times on the scene.

Ma Lin in his wrap-up speech said the three retired leaders of BAST Ren Xiang, Gu Fangzhou and Zhang Dali are outstanding representatives of CPC members and their absolute loyalty to the Party and highest sense of responsibility for their cause set good examples for all BAST people. Looking back at the glorious history of BAST in the past 58 years, a large number of exemplary figures have emerged and wrote soul-stirring epochal odes with loyalty and devotion. We are expected to greatly carry forward and earnestly practice the spirit of examples around us, inherit the spiritual ancestry of CPC members, continue the spiritual bloodline and move the Party history learning and education efforts of BAST further and solidly in a high-quality manger.

Ma Lin pointed out that the Party history presentation is both an important political task and a soul-stirring spiritual baptism. Everyone is expected to firmly grasp the spiritual connotation of examples around them, learn from them for their noble character of loyalty and commitment, unbreakable spirit of struggle and can-do spirit as well as valuable practical experience they have accumulated in the longtime development of BAST’s cause, further solidify the foundation of belief and become more motivated and passionate to form the soul and lead the way for the further development of the cause. 

Ma Lin emphasized that the glorious deeds of examples around us are both inspirations and motivations. Everyone is expected to expertly summarize and apply the practical strengthen implied in these deeds, deepen the ideological and political guidance with the exemplary spirit, further strengthen BAST organization, deeply plan for the development of the cause in the “14th five-year” plan period, guide and motivate sci-tech workers in Beijing to commit themselves to critical and core technological breakthroughs, contribute to the construction of Beijing as an international sci-tech innovation center and the high-quality development of the capital, fulfill the original aspirations and mission of the Party in achieving goals, and write the most beautiful chapters in forging ahead.
