CAST surveys system-wide deepened reforms during “14th five-year” plan period in Beijing

In order to more scientifically develop CAST’s implementation plan for system-wide deepened reforms during the “14th five-year” plan period, deputy head of the Department for Research and Publicity of CAST Wu Shanchao and head of CAST’s reform coordination division Xue Jing conducted field surveys in Beijing during March 16-18.

On March 16, in response to the challenges, pain points and institutional barriers that urgently need to be addressed in reforms of academic societies, related persons in charge from different types of learned societies such as Beijing Medical Association, Beijing Chemical Society, Z-Park Xinxing Science and Technology Service Industrial Alliance, Beijing Society of Metals, Beijing Changfeng Information Technology Industry Alliance, Beijing Highway Association, Beijing Science & Technology Information Society, Beijing Society of Emergency Management and Beijing Breast Disease Society gathered together to talk freely about their ideas and thoughts. On March 18, CAST’s survey team surveyed Beijing Science Center Chaoyang Sub-center (Beijing Ceramic Art Museum) and held an in-depth discussion meeting with President of Chaoyang District Association for Science and Technology Qi Jianzong, Vice President Yu Hong, deputy director of Jiangtai Area Office of Chaoyang District Xing Jing and curator of Beijing Ceramic Art Museum Chen Meixia about mechanism building, functional enhancement and effectiveness improvement of prefectural and municipal branches and grass-roots organizations of CAST.

Wu Shanchao attentively listened to work reports from participating academic societies and CDAST since the commencement of deepened reforms and developed a deep understanding of issues faced by academic societies, CDAST and grass-roots organizations as well as their opinions and suggestions on the development of CAST’s cause. He spoke highly of achievements made by all entities of BAST in deepening reforms, saying that he would seriously learn from opinions and suggestions received in surveys and further broaden the approach to designing the implementation plan in terms of strengthening political guidance, enhancing policy guideline and encouragement, enriching various platforms and mechanisms, broadening the coverage of support for sci-tech professionals and intensifying communication and coordination with other departments, with a view to jointly advancing the deepened reforms of CAST organization during the “14th five-year” plan period. 

Head of the Department for Research and Publicity of BAST Liu Faxian and related officers of the department and the Department for Societies Affairs accompanied the survey team.
